What are you doing this summer? Are you going to take any trips? Hit the road and see some sights? Summer is a traditional time for us to travel and get out of our ordinary routines. This is wonderful and refreshing! But, we also need to careful that we don’t take a road trip away God, that we don’t take a vacation from God. So, what will you do this summer to stay in touch with God?
In my personal devotion time, I am rereading through the book of Acts. I’m reading one chapter a day and marking down the verses that speak to me. It is a wonderful way to refamiliarize myself with these stories and with the work of God.
If you don’t feel like reading through Acts, then I invite you to read through 1 & 2 Samuel. We are studying selected passages from these books of the Old Testament this summer, and we have to skip over a lot! But there are a lot of wonderful and important stories that we are missing that I hope you can read on your own. And did you know that 1 & 2 Samuel used to be just one book? It got split into two, because otherwise it would be really big.
If you want to go a little deeper in your study of Scripture, then I invite you to watch these overview videos from The Bible Project. I love this website – they are a reliable source of biblical wisdom and knowledge.

The Bible Project also releases weekly podcasts, and this year, the podcasts are on the Sermon on the Mount (https://bibleproject.com/podcasts/the-bible-project-podcast/). I have really enjoyed listening to them and going deeper into these chapters from Matthew. I highly encourage you to listen! These are great to take on the road with us. Feel free to explore their website for extra videos on Matthew and on the Sermon on the Mount.
