Peace on earth, goodwill to all! We hope you will join us on Christmas Eve for a special lessons and carols service.

Christmas Eve Lessons and Carols Worship Service

Wednesday, December 24, 2025

7:00 p.m.

Scottsville United Methodist Church

158 E. Main Street | Scottsville, Virginia 24590

About the Service

Our Christmas Eve service is a service of lessons and carols. This means that we will listen to the Christmas story read from Scripture interspersed with Christmas carols, and the pastor will deliver a short message. We also will participate in Holy Communion. In the United Methodist tradition, Communion is offered to all individuals regardless of church membership. But you also do not have to participate in this sacrament. You may choose to remain at your seat or come forward with your arms crossed, indicating your desire for the pastor to offer a blessing.

We will end the service by lighting candles and singing Joy to the World and Silent Night.

We want you to come as comfortable as possible. If that means a suit and tie or dress then feel welcome to do that. If that means shorts and a t-shirt, you are welcome to come however you feel comfortable. Christ called people of varying walks of life to worship together as one body. Come dressed in whatever way feels comfortable for you.

Feel free to contact the church office at 434-286-4736 with any additional questions.
