The Reverend Brian C. Lamb,
Pastor Brian grew up in Blackwood, New Jersey and Spotsylvania, Virginia. He has called Spotsylvania home for over 23 years. Previously, he served as the Director of Youth Ministries and Ministry Intern at Wilderness Community Church (WCC) in the Rappahannock River District. Prior to serving at WCC he served as the Director of Children, Youth and Handbell Choirs at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, his home church since 1994.
Pastor Brian is a 2018 graduate of Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. While attending Wesley, he was active in the Chapel Choir and with the Chapel Planning Team. He also served as the Design Editor for the Wesley Journal. Brian excelled in preaching and worship planning while attending Wesley and is the recipient of the Lawrence Hull Stookey Award for Outstanding Leadership in Worship and Liturgy. Brian studied preaching with Rev. Dr. Lucy Lind Hogan, the Hugh Latimer Professor of Preaching and Worship and Rev. Dr. Matthew Poole, Senior Pastor of First Free Methodist Church, Seattle. He studied liturgics with Rev. Gina Gilland Campbell, a United Methodist Elder and former Worship Director of the Washington National Cathedral. He also received the Excellence in Clergy Leadership award from the Global Board of Higher Education and Ministry.
Pastor Brian is a 2009 graduate of West Virginia University where he was enrolled in the Benedum Collaborative 5-Year Model of Teacher Education. He received both his Bachelor of Arts in Interdepartmental Studies (Social Studies) and his Master of Arts in Secondary Education. He interned for three years at Clay-Battelle Middle and High School in Blacksville, West Virginia. After graduating, he was hired by Hilldrup Companies in Stafford, Virginia. He eventually became a Team Leader in their International Division, coordinating moves and supervising a team of coordinators for Department of State, military and national account household good moves for all seven of their U.S. branches. He left Hilldrup in 2015, answering a call to ordained ministry that God placed on his life when he was 14.
He is the youngest of four siblings. His twin sister, Julie (Matt) Bays and their two children currently live in Morgantown, West Virginia. His brother Chad (Ashley) Lamb and their two children live in Stafford, Virginia and his brother Keith Schmeichel and his two children live in South Bend, Indiana. Brian’s parents (Gregg & Mona) continue to reside in Spotsylvania, VA. Pastor Brian was appointed beginning July 1, 2018 to the Southern Albemarle Charge, which consists of Scottsville United Methodist Church and Mount Zion United Methodist Church. Pastor Brian and his Airedale Terrier, Franny live in the Parsonage in downtown Scottsville.
