I am a second career pastor—I worked as a corporate and real estate attorney for 27 years. But when I felt the “nudge” of God’s call, I began attending Wesley Theological Seminary and graduated with an M.Div. in 2009 and a D. Min. in 2016. I was commissioned as a Provisional Elder by the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church in 2009 and ordained as an Elder in Full Connection in 2012. I served as pastor at Cunningham United Methodist Church for ten years and retired from full-time ministry in June of 2019.

I am filled with joy at the opportunity to minister among you for several months, beginning November 1, 2019. I look forward to getting to know you, to learn your stories, and to join with you in your spiritual journeys.

To our brothers and sisters on the South Albemarle Charge — greetings.

I’m a Southern girl from way back – Southern California that is J.  I was transplanted to Virginia when my husband retired from the Air Force.  I graduated from the University of Maryland, in 1981 with a Bachelors of Science, majoring in Psychology.  For many of our military years, I worked for overseas base chapels coordinating and directing Christian Education programs.

I have taken a circuitous road when it comes to ordained ministry.  I attended Wesley Theological Seminary graduating in 1992 with a degree in Christian Formation with an emphasis in Education and Programming in order to better serve as a Christian educator.  However, God placed another call in my life, moving me toward becoming the pastor, so I returned to Wesley and converted my degree into a Masters of Divinity in 1999.  I was ordained an elder in 2001.

I bring twenty plus years of experience in ministry.  I am deeply privileged to serve God’s people in all times and truly appreciate the gift of sharing in each of your lives.

I’m married to Roger, who is also a United Methodist pastor – he is serving South Fluvanna Charge.  Together we have one son, Bryon who is married to Erin and our grandson Hanz is almost six.

I’m excited to greet each of you in the Name of our Lord and Savior and am looking forward to the ways in which we will serve Jesus Christ.

Let me introduce myself.  Called to pastoral ministry, I have served in this capacity since 1995.  I bring with me a passion to serve people on their spiritual journey; to establish grace-filled relationships of love; and to gather people into worship of God through the entirety of our life experiences.

Prior to that, I served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, working in the fields of missiles, electronics, communications, and computers.  I hold an undergraduate degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland and a Master’s of Divinity degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.

As a child, I was exposed to a variety of theological perspectives, to include: congregational church, military base chapels, and Methodist churches.  As an adult, faith was conveyed, enhanced, and instilled through the living-out example of a small Methodist congregation.  That church loved my wife and I to faith.

My Christian experience is one of: finding faith; questioning faith; living-out faith; being confirmed in faith; learning, growing, maturing in faith; experiencing faith on the mountain-tops, deserts, and valleys of life.  On my life’s journey, I have been blessed through my 44-year marriage to my high school sweetheart, the one son we have, his wife, and our one grandson.

I look forward to our time together, as we can search and celebrate the wonders of God, and work in His Kingdom.
